Emailbot

Emailbot: Prototype Email Application

I collaborated with a Microsoft programmer to concept and design the UI for an web based email application. The concept of the application is that a user is able to observe and sort through their email by the way of trends in word, sender, subject, and date usage and frequency. The user can also quickly sort emails for example by attachment type and size and choose to strip attachments from the emails for any number of reasons, including: 1. Reduce storage usage, 2. Archiving, 3. Prior to exporting to a mobile device.

Mini-site: Backyard Birdsongs

I had the pleasure of designing and creating a beautifully illustrated mini-site featuring 18 birds from North America, each accompanied by audio files recorded by Cornell Lab of Ornithology. I utilized Wordpress 2.5 as the CMS for this site in conjunction with a handful of great plugins, which allowed me to take this design from Photoshop to "live" in a matter of days.

Mini-site + Blog: R.E.M.:HELLO

Chronicle Books has worled with R.E.M. photographer David Belisle to produce a photo book that captures the band on and off stage over their dynamic career. I had the pleasure fo creating a photo-blog for David Belisle as he tours with the band and post photographs from the 2008 tour. The design and Wordpress implmentation allow the photographer to easily upload imagery and posts while on tour and reflect the energetic cover art from their new release: Accelerate.

The design focused on keeping the user aware of their progress, options and feeling secure that their information would be kept secure.

Chronicle Books Site Redesign

This project is still in development. The site currently does not have
many entry points on the home page and is more of a "gallery" expereince in the top level. Much of the rich and informative content is not apparent at this top level. The new design will bring the breadth of content to the home page with many more entry points for the user to expereince content.

Portfolio :: Tom Petty Landing Page

Tom Petty: Landing Page

I do a lot of landing pages for special titles that receive click throughs from both online and print advertisements. This page featured a "look inside" for the book and a YouTube video embed. At the time I developed this page I used this opportunity to experimnt with footer treatments for our landing pages towards the goal of having a consistent look for all pages to solidify the brand.

Elliott Smith: Landing Page

Landing page design, coding and music player integration for the release of Elliott Smith: Autumn de Wilde book from Chronicle Books. The design incorporates a look inside feature, streaming music and linkage back to the publisher's site for pre order. The site also includes a footer treatment to engage the user in other marketing aspects.

Space Race is a custom designed and coded Flash game for the children's World Almanac series. The game features a mixture of pre-existing and newly created graphics. After developing the concept and screens I went into Flash production. The game features three levels, space goblins and health bars to save the oxygen seeking astronaut!

Chronicle Books blog now has over 1000 unique visitors a week to its pages. Here the design maintains the look and feel of the main website and brand but delivers content in a welcoming blog format. Three columns provide content areas for navigation, archives, recent posts and marketing regions to promote new titles. I designed the grid and layout and the template was prepared by Object Adj.

Chronicle Books Interactive Timeline

Naylor Design Inc

Naylor Design is a small but highly regarded shop in Washington, DC. The site is presented using Flash with short but characteristic animations conveying the personal attention devoted to each client. The clean and spacious design also quietly communicates the aesthetic and conceptual approach the studio has for their work. Site design was collaborative with production and Flash development as my main responsibilties.
